Over the last 30 years, Alan’s career has involved the direct management of operational property or businesses including BT Group, Diageo, Lloyds/TSB, Dee Corporation and Booker. As BT Property Director, Alan was involved with the strategic planning of the largest UK property asset outsourcing – a £2.3 billion transaction with Telereal – and in developing a number of operational property strategies, including programmes of downsizing, cost reduction, asset value enhancement and workstyle change. Alan has headed the Corporate Consultancy and Occupier Services Groups at DTZ Pieda.

Alan now runs Lenborough Consultants, providing corporate occupiers and public bodies with advice on occupational property and financial strategies. Together, CONSILIAN and Lenborough offer a unique set of skills associated with the strategy, financing, design, use and management of operational property.

Alan chairs the RICS Facilities Management Faculty and RICS Business Services. He is a member of the RICS Corporate Real Estate Group and the Bank of England Property Forum. He is a past advisor to the Ministry of Defence, Department of Transport, Office of the Deputy Prime Minister and the Office of Government Commerce.

Alan is involved with real estate education through the University of Reading, Oxford Brookes University, City University, London, Sheffield Hallam and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Boston USA.
